The Western New York State Nursery and Landscape Association announced its 2012 Man of the Year and Business of the Year at their annual Harvest Dinner held at Statler City on November 9. Congratulations to Neil Stern and Buffalo Spree Publishing
Man of the Year Award: Neil Stern
Neil has been an avid supporter of the activities of the WNYSNLA through serving on the Executive Board from 2007 to 2011 (President in 2010) and on the Plantasia Committee. Neil has been the chair of the Front Yard Garden Contest since its inception in 2010 and liaison to the National Garden Festival since 2010. Neil currently serves as Trustee of the WNY Nurseryman's Association Foundation. Neil is the Sales Representative at Gernatt Asphalt Products.
Gernatt Asphalt Products, Inc. is based in Collins, NY where operations began in 1955 as Dan Gernatt Gravel, Inc. The Gernatt Family of Companies has expanded over the years to include eight Sand and Gravel locations and five Asphalt Plant locations, together employing about 150 people.
Neil resides in Cattaraugus, NY, with his wife Crystal and sons Evan and Tanner.
Business of the Year - Buffalo Spree Publishing, Inc.
Buffalo Spree Publishing has been an exhibitor of the Plantasia Garden and Landscape Show - The Official Sponsor of Spring! since 2005 and a member of the WNYSNLA since 2009. In 2008, Spree partnered with Plantasia and became the first sponsor of Plantasia’s Preview Night Party. In 2012 Spree’s role in the annual event increased substantially as they took the lead in planning and hosting the Preview Night Party. Through Spree’s efforts, the Preview Night event has set new attendance records, built social excitement, increased the public’s awareness of the WNYSNLA and with that the importance of hiring a professional when contracting for landscape services. Spree will again be Sponsoring Preview Night in 2013!
